Foundation Workshop, Inc. (FWI) is a not-for-profit (501(C)3) organization that has provided employment for adults with disabilities since 1975. Originally founded by the Greater Kansas City Foundation for Retarded Children, FWI began with one full-time staff member and twenty-five employees in a small office on 39th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Since this humble beginning, FWI has developed a well-established business, recognized by the community for quality and dependability.

As the need for vocational services grew throughout Jackson County, the organization expanded and moved to its current location at 12600 Third Street in Grandview, Missouri in 1981. Since our beginning, we have provided employment for hundreds of adults with disabilities who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to be gainfully employed. While providing much-needed services for our citizens, we have also developed long-term relationships with many business customers.

FWI has an active Board of Directors, made up of a wide variety of community members who donate their time, experience, and expertise. Operations are paid for through contract sales, funding from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Jackson County Board of Services, as well as donations.
